Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England.
Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils. The funding is used to decrease the attainment gap for the most disadvantaged children, whether by income or by family upheaval. For each pupil who is eligible for free school meals, or has claimed free school meals in the last six years, our school receives £1,345.
At Lady Modiford's we are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes in progress and attainment for every learner regardless of their backgrounds, needs or abilities, by providing the highest quality teaching and learning possible. We aim for children to become confident readers, writers and mathematicians who also gain a wide breadth and depth of knowledge across the curriculum. Within our Church school Christian framework, we want children to become life-long learners, fostering a sense of curiosity, excitement and passion for everything they experience and do. The focus of our pupil premium strategy is to support disadvantaged pupils to achieve that goal, including progress for those who are already high attainers.
We aim to give pastoral care and teach the children in our school as well as we can, valuing all children individually. We want to provide enriching curriculum opportunities for all, celebrate children's achievements both academically and socially, fostering a passion for learning and exploring new experiences.
Our approach will be responsive to common challenges and individual needs, rooted in robust diagnostic assessment, not assumptions about the impact of disadvantage. The approaches we have adopted complement each other to help pupils excel. To ensure they are effective we will:
