Breakfast Club

At Lady Modiford's we understand the benefits of having a good breakfast each day.

We have recently been selected by Gregg's Bakery to run a whole school breakfast club to make sure that all our pupils get the very best start to the day by serving up a delicious breakfast each and every day; all for  no charge.

Every day there is toast, cereal, milk/juice/water, yoghurt and on a Friday there is always a special item/theme such as pancakes, waffles etc. These 'special' menus are voted on by the pupils so everyone gets their choice without waiting too long.

Please bring your child along from 8am, they will enter the school from the clock tower. Once in hall, they will be asked to wash their hands and to add their name to the list as they enter the hall.

Please see below to read more information about the scheme:

Outline of Scheme

The Greggs breakfast club scheme has been running since 1999 and is designed to provide a simple, nutritious breakfast to children in primary schools, typically with over 40% free school meals.

The Greggs breakfast club programme supports young people of primary school age who live in disadvantaged areas of the UK in areas where Greggs have outlets. The Greggs Foundation currently supports over 589 breakfast clubs throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, providing a nutritious start to the day for over 39,000 school children.

Research into and practical experience of the effects of breakfast clubs has shown the following positive benefits:

  • Improved attendance and punctuality

  • improved behaviour

  • Children complete more tasks and behave better

  • Concentration and achievement at schools

  • Longer-term benefits for memory and cognition

  • Strengthening of school/parents relationship

  • Opportunity for children to meet and communicate with others in a social setting

  • Help for parents to take on training or work

When the Greggs Foundation takes on a breakfast club they give a commitment to that school of two years. In that period the Greggs Foundation also provides funding for nutritious food and equipment to get the club started.
